Roughening

Slippery floor?

You probably recognise it. Some sections of your concrete floors or concrete grid, in particular intensive traffic sections, are very slippery. This is a consequence of intensive use and the load on the concrete floors or concrete grids. Inevitably, the top layer wears off in the course of time. In combination with a damp base, this results in a slippery surface. Experience shows that many new grid floors or poured floors are often not rough enough. Roughening often provides the required solution.

When is roughening an option?

Stables for cows generally have a concrete base. If it is too slippery, cows will show unnatural behaviour. The cow’s movement is adjusted to the base and cows anticipate potential slips. This causes cows to reduce their normal behaviour patterns. This can include shorter steps, less expression of being in heat, , less movement in general and reduced confidence during movement. This shows in reduced feed intake, reduced activity, reduced signs of being in heat, and higher stress levels. Extremely slippery floors may result in slips. Cows may skid or slip and get hurt, getting their legs sprained or even resulting in paralysis. To prevent all these risks, Van Esch Grip System can offer you a suitable solution.
